PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan as an austerity measure has decided to curtail non-developmental expenditures to maximum level.
The amount saved in this connection would be spent on projects of collective welfare and removing public complaints. The chief minister has also announced to establish a communication, coordination and implementation cell in the Chief Minister Secretariat, according to a statement issued here on Sunday.
The cell would coordinate with all the government departments to address public complaints. It would also have the powers for implementation of decisions and would keep the chief minister informed about the enforcement accordingly.

The decision to this effect was taken by chief minister while chairing various meetings. He said that government was working seriously for solution of problems of common man. “In this respect, the decision has been taken to curtail non-developmental and unnecessary expenditures to possible extent,” he added.
The chief minister said that long term strategic planning was carried out to achieve self-sufficiency and long lasting development in all parts of the province.
He said that public representative would play pivotal role in implementation of the projects. He asked the public representative to extend their support to the proposed project to make it a success. He said that transparent governance could prove the first step towards better future.
The chief minister said that government had decided to bring about change in governance. He said that government undertook practical reforms and made decision-making based on merit. He added that organisations were given independence and they were also made answerable to people.
Mr Khan said that the most important step included participation of people in the local government system so that they themselves could make decisions for their development and prosperity. “We have learnt from our past mistakes and rectified the wrongs,” he added.
The chief minister said that there was no more space for any mistake. He said that government would come up to the expectations of people. “We have prepared a strategy to get maximum benefits from the scenario that has emerged with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor,” he added.
Mr Khan said that opportunities of investment and industrialisation ware being created. He said that government was endeavouring to initiate mega project in every district. Efforts were also underway to promote domestic industries, he added.
The chief minister said that economic activities were getting promoted all over the province and skilled manpower was being prepared.
He said that exploration of oil, gas and other natural resources was underway. He said that the province was replete with sites of tourism as Swat, Malakand, Hazara and tribal districts had great potential for tourism. He said that 20 new tourist spots were identified in various regions that would be promoted.
The chief minister said that in view of the growing economic activities, communication system was being improved that would help to promote tourism and get the province connected with Central Asia.
Meanwhile, the chief minister directed health department to take necessary steps to control leishmaniasis.
He directed the authorities concerned to collect complete data about the skin disease.
